How It's Calculated
This calculator finds the time difference between two clock times. If the end time is before the start time, it assumes the shift crosses midnight into the next day. Break time is subtracted from the total to give you net working hours.
Formula
- Total time = End time - Start time
- If end < start: Total time = (24:00 - start) + end
- Net working time = Total time - Break time
- Estimated pay = Net working hours x Entered hourly rate
Examples
Morning Cafe Shift
- Start: 07:00
- End: 15:30
- Break: 30 min
Result: 8h 30m total, 8h net working time → £97.68 estimated pay
Evening Restaurant Shift
- Start: 18:00
- End: 02:00
- Break: 0 min
Result: 8h (crosses midnight) → £97.68 estimated pay
